Life is such a precious gift and we never know when we or someone we love will be called home. How important it is to everyday enjoy our friends, family, and ourselves, because life if fragile and unpredictable. A friend e-mailed me today to tell me one of her loved ones had passed away. It was not completely unexpected but how many of us are ever completely prepared when we have to say good-bye to someone. Whenever I hear of someone making the transition to the next phase, I am reminded that family and friends are what makes our life worth it in the end. It’s not our careers, what kind of mark we leave on the world, or how much money we make, but the time we spend with each other.
Our family and friends are our real wealth and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! We all come here for a short period of time and most of us have the opportunity to know some pretty remarkable people. I know I have. Today I will make a commitment to not let headlines of recession, state budget woes, and dismal unemployment numbers get to me. I will give gratitude for all those who enhance my life. I will remember that no matter what happens, I have a wealth of family and friends and I am rich beyond compare!
