Just when I thought I had dodged the nasty virus circulating around my office, my number came up! Honest to God, these workplaces are worse than pre-schools. Every body always has something and no matter how many times you wash your hands and try to avoid those wheezing and sneezing around you, at some point it catches up with you.
It’s now five days later and I’m beginning to feel like myself again. I have more vigor and I have the energy to “doll” up a bit and not just settle for a shower and a set of clean clothes being the extent of my grooming. With the exception of allergies and a very slight case of asthma, for the most part I’ve been blessed with good health, so when I do get sick, I can be such a baby. I may have missed the boat so far on career success, but I certainly hit the jackpot when it came to health. And you better believe I’m aware of it and thankful as all get out! (Thank you Mother and Daddy for such good genes!)
Being even the slightest bit ill always makes me wonder what it must be like for those going through their lives with major illnesses and pain. I’ve only had a minor infection for the past week and it’s been all I could do to get up in the morning and brush my teeth. Good health is something we all say we value but do we really value it or just value it intellectually? I’m practicing acknowledging to myself several times a day how great it is to be healthy and fully alive. I don’t want to dismiss my greatest wealth-my health! The same way money can go at anytime, your health can go at any time as well.
